About Square Peg Graphics

My name is Jack Jackson and I am a freelance graphic designer in Oakland, California. I am also the square peg in Square Peg Graphics. I worked for many years as a mainframe programmer and analyst. I was successful enough at it but never quite fit into the business world. So when I started my design business in 1991 deciding on a name for it required very little effort.

 

I majored in art in high school and photography at the Academy of Art University but later found my calling in graphic design. Even in high school, it was the graphics assignments — or commercial art as it was called back then — that summoned my muse. I have always been fascinated by typography and letter forms so it seems odd looking back that it took me so long to realize what should have been perfectly obvious all along. Better late than never I suppose.
